THE STORY, THE NAME AND THE TEAM BEHIND DESERT FLOWER LANDSCAPING
OUR STORY
Desert Flower Landscaping started in 2020, founded by Malcolm Berce, an Adelaidian who returned home after several years living and landscaping in Byron Bay. That time working across a completely different climate and landscape sharpened Malcolm's eye for what makes a garden genuinely work with its environment, rather than against it.

Malcolm has been in the horticulture industry for 21 years, with a background in landscape construction and a Diploma in Landscape Design and Horticulture. Throughout his career, he's developed a strong interest in sustainability and permaculture techniques, and is passionate about bringing these principles into everyday backyards without compromising on style or visual appeal.
Since then, we've grown into a team of 20+, while staying a hands-on, full-service landscape design and construction company - delivering every project from initial design through to construction, with the same focus on quality, detail and doing things properly that we started with.

WHY DESERT FLOWER?
No, we do not specialise in cacti.
Our name and logo are inspired by the Sturt's Desert Pea - South Australia's official floral emblem, and a plant famous for thriving in some of the driest, harshest conditions the state has to offer. It's a fitting symbol for what we do: proof that something striking and beautiful can flourish anywhere, given the right care.
